So I am installing a Schnell Shift Kit this afternoon. Easy job, right? Well, for the most part that held true, until......The old linkage won't come away from the selector shaft that goes into the transmission itself! Each time I try to pry it off I just wind up shifting gears.....Has anyone had the same experience?? How do I get this damn thing off?!?!

Make sure that bolt with the saftey wire is completly removed. It has a taper at the end, and losinging it isn't enough.

If it's still stuck, I'd shift it into a gear that puts it forward, then tap on it with a hammer a little bit.

It should slide right off.

Oh, same problem. I finally used a small 3 jaw gear puller on the shaft as I didn't want to beat it with a hammer too long, worked right away!

Thanks for the replies, I ended up running out of daylight, so I just sprayed some penetrant on it and I guess I will give it another go tomorrow...Cant't wait..
