High oil pressure

Default High oil pressure

I am having very high oil pressure, about 4 bar when warm. oil level is ok ......on a freshly rebuilt motor. Was totaly dry, put in 8 quarts. Any ideas?

4 bar when warm isn't hi.

turbo/951 take 7 qts/w-filter, 8 qts is to much, even with filter.

i have 5bar for all normal driving, dip down to about 3.5 bar at idle if im driving it hard

read totally dry engine. You might need to check the alignment of the OPRV. Should be about 3 bar when warm, 2.5 after really spirited driving but also, what's the current temp where you are. Mine was a bit higher the other day but it was 12 degrees outside.

4 bar warm (not hot) on a fresh engine is fairly normal. Wait until summer...it will go down to 3 bar!

Thanks guys, this is at idle when warm.......Its is COLD here, and theres 20-50 in the car... but I've never seen it over 3 bar when warm....

Oil pressure is a function (primarily) between the fit of the rod and crank bearings. The tighter the fit, the less clearance between the bearings and the crank = higher oil pressure. The looser the fit, which will give you more clearance = lower oil pressure.

Did you happen to measure the old bearings and the new ones to compare? That might be the answer -- but it isn't neccessarily a problem.
