I was really looking for a true track tire, that will serve dual purpose street use (and rain).
Everything I see says will be great for my use but as expected a bit short on mileage.
I didn't get a chance to track either of the cars I had these on but driving very aggressively under some controlled conditions they held up very well. I probably put a few hundred miles on the set on my '75 911S this summer and they didn't show any noticeable wear at all.
I think they're one of the best tires out there for the money. I purchased mine through Discout Tire Direct online.

So alot of people are saying that the Hankooks are really good. I love the Michelin Pilot Sports and the Potenzas but they are out of my price range of $400-450. How are the Pirellis? Some people say theat they are not that grippy but I would think that they should be right under the other top of the line tires. Plus I can get them for $100 a pop.

So which should it be, Hankooks or Pirelli PZero Neros?

There is no "magic" tire for less than $100 each. Every tire is a compromise. You have quite a few recommended fine tire choices in your price range that will satisfy your demands. But none will be the "best" at everything. It is a compromise. Buy a tire set that YOU want, and enjoy them while driving YOUR porsche. For rational street use most all of the recommended tiores are fine.

Silverbullet, what size tires are you looking for. Honestly, S03's, Ps2's and most of those other high end models are going to end up costing quite a bit more than $400 considering the stock 951 sizes, and much more so with bigger wheels. For a budget tire that still provides excellent performance, I'd seriously look at something like the Kumho MX, Avon Tech M500, and Potenza Re750's. I think a set of 225/245 staggered 16" Re750's on the stock wheels were about ~$500 shipped from Tire Rack last time I bought some.

I would have to agree with you on your points Ed. Well said my friend.

They are stock 16" Fuchs. I may be able to squeeze out around $600 for the tires but it probably won't be a noticeable difference over the lesser priced tires. I'll probably go with the Avons or Potenzas, I hear the Pirelli is more of a good cruising tire. Thanks!

FWIW, I have only Kumho Ecsta Supra 712's to compare my Fuzion ZRi tires against, but the Fuzions are hands down WAY better. They've also lasted about 15000 miles now with very little tire wear.

For that $400 limit I don't think you can beat the Fuzions. At less than $80/tire they are hard to beat based on what you are looking for in your first post plus they are killer in the rain.

FYI : Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 - IS IN NO WAY comperable to Khumo MX

would not run escta if you gave them to me for free - total garbage.

MX is entirely different tire from every aspect

Agreed. I've run both 711's and 712's and they are both equally horrible with no grip whatsoever. The MX is a ~200 treadwear tire and significantly more performance oriented. I do have to admit though, the 711's were a little fun since they did break traction so easily, plus they broke away very easy at the limit so it made for a nice and controllable car to slide around.

Ok i know this is the wrong forum but what is a better size for my early offset NA. I am planning on getting the ZRi's and they come in either 205/50-15 or 225/50-15. Can i run 225's on my cookies?

OT but while we're talking tyres, has anyone tried the Pirellis P-Corsa dot R-spec?
I may have to go to these in 315's and I just don't know the tyre at all?
Sorry OT.

I've had good luck with my ES100's. I just recently had to replace the rears because a faulty valve stem caused a blowout and ruined one. They had 18,000 miles and could've gone a good ways more. Were a little noisy, but not too bad. I still have them on the fronts, but now I have Falkens on the rear. For some reason I can chrip the Falkens going to 2nd...I couldn't do that with the Yokos.
