Default Stock KLR chip with aftermarket DME chip?

I've been reviewing the SP3 racing rules, and I see that the DME chip is free, but the KLR chip must remain stock.

Question: has anyone used such a setup? If so, what brand chips and how did it perform?

My guess is, even with the stock boost, there is some room to make the fuel map more effective, and, perhaps, to raise the rev limiter some.

It's done often. The KLR controls boost, the DME takes care of fueling, timing and rev limiter.
To gain power, AFR and Ignition timing can be altered from stock setup. If you are allowed to use race gas, then you can push the ignition for even more power.

*dumb question*

Would this be considered a "stage 1" chip? Like autothority's cheaper model?

These rules will not work. By replacing a single resistor in the KLR you can scale any KLR chip up to 14 PSI. It will be hard to control. Why don't they give the KLR chip free too?

Interesting point! So, which resistor is it?

No, but mostly because of laziness... I just like to have information like this!
