I just called the local dealer to get gear oil for my car since the transmission is out of the car and they had to call me back to see what to use for my car. Silly.
What are you guys using for a LSD 951 transmission?
Thanks for the input!

I've got Mobile 1 in there now and have a lot of gear noise on deceleration and occasionally hear it at low RPM acceleration. Not so nice to hear.
I had redline MT90 in my car previously and had very little gear noise from it. I did get a new clutch put in when I decided to change gear oil
, but that shouldn't have contributed too much to the noise.
btw, I've got an 88 LSD transmission in my car which shouldn't be too different from an 89?

I've been using Castrol XJ 75W140 for a while and I have found it signifcantly more efficient than Redline 75W90 as far as noise is concerned.
Price reflects ...
Do you mean Redline 75W250 ?
A friend used it in his much tuned Golf 2 and he had to heat the gearbox to get it all out - when cold that oil is as thick as honey. Noise-wise I doubt it can be bettered though.

I am using Swepco 201 with the hopes that my tranny would quiet up a little. It still makes quite a racket though. I had Mobil 1 in it before the Swepco. Do you guys think the Castrol will help quiet it down ?
