You seemed to have cleaned up the wiring harness pretty good.

Jim, you did an awesome job my friend! Maybe I'll see you at one of the events.

I'll tell my wife you said so. Believe me, I do as many as I think I can get away with, which is not nearly as many as I would like to. I shoot for 15-18 days/season.

Thanks man! My "un-tidy" comment was geared toward my dash. I'm not real happy with the way it's cut off on the passenger side. If I ever find a non-airbag dash cheap, maybe I'll swap it out. I think it would look better running all the way across. It's just a cosmetic thing, but still...

Thanks! I haven't driven it as-is yet, but I don't think reflections will be a problem.

That's new too, it's a Longacre 14". I still need to fab up some extension brackets to move it more forward toward the windshield.

Yeah, that was quite a task! I removed 7 pounds of wiring. I can't exactly say that I enjoyed that job.

I hope so too! That was a blast.

I have a tentative trip planned early August though, to the new Calabogie track in Canada. That may conflict with a potential 944Fest if the Fest turns out to be in early August again. (assuming there is a Fest.....hint, hint Dan )

Is there a detailed write-up on how to do that interior job? I mean, besides "Tear out everything not bolted down!"

Did you strip everything out and get it professionally painted, or just masking tape and spraypaint?

That looks much better than my old ratty carpet. I'm starting to consider doing something like that with my (non-track) car, rather than replacing the carpet. Any drawbacks to doing that to a daily-driver?

REALLY NICE JOB!

Looks clean. Question from someone who has never been to the track before. Is it required to strip out the carpet or is that done strickly for weight savings?

A detailed write-up?

1. Tear everything out that's not bolted down.
2. Unbolt everything that is bolted down, and tear it out too.

Actually, there's a whole bunch of threads showing how people have stripped out interiors, with tips and pictures. It isn't for the faint of heart, and I'm not sure I would recommend it for a street car. It's pretty noisy and would limit your resale opportunities.

Mine I did myself, painted it myself with Krylon oil-based rattle cans. It took about 10 cans...that interior started out blue.

It's not required. I did it for weight savings, so there is less stuff to burn, and for ease of maintenance.

Jim,
where do you run your car and in what series/class?

Are you ever down at summit point?
