From looking around there are several places that name the boxed fendered 924 as a GTR but they're the same sites that say the '86 was a GTP which I know to be false after talking with Kelly Moss Racing and contacting people at Fabcar...

This is so confusing sometimes.

That 924CGTR is the rallye version. People get confused because they think the bodywork is different to the CGTR, but its exactly the same.
Yes I was wondering what was going on with all that clearance between tyres and guard?

I respect if you don't wish to disclose the numbers, but can you tell us a bit more of the parts used?
Like a bit more info about the dry sump setup?

IMHO the intake runnes are too long but they might be designed for a restricted HP race class where you wish to maximize torque as a result of the rules.

How wild did you go in the head/drivetrain area? Maximum rpms?

walter rohls rallye

the same car or a replica in a '06 rally in Germany

peter brock and jim richards car at le mans 24hrs '81

its car #74, the canon car is 75:
http://www.racingsportscars.com/phot...-14-photo.html
note that #1 is the 924 CGTP 944 LM and #36 is a CGTR, both virtually identical in appearance so that could get confusing.

anyone speak german?

lastly:

The teams using the GTR quickly decided to develop their own bodywork. I'll be back later to document these better, and fill in some of the blanks of technical content. For now, I will mention that some of the major points were boxed rear fender quarters as seen on the 935's, and 1-piece noses. These cars also saw much service in the Trans Am series.

Jesus Guns, did you like search for weeks and gather every photo avaliable? Damn, that is a nice collection that you have there my friend. Then again, since you are building that dream car, you need these photos to help you re-create that same look, and have some big power too. Thanks for sharing the pics, very, very sweet!!

More info please!!!

Either way, more shots of the rear fenders please?!?!?!?!

924 GTP Front

924 CGTR Front

944 GTR Front

924 GTP Rear

924 CGTR Rear

944 GTR Rear

THE 924 IN THE PIC AT THE TOP, is a 924gtr, the gtp looked the same except it had a prototype engine with 4 valve /cyl head. hence since not being a production engine was ran as a GTP. This engine later turned out to be the basis for the 944. All or most of the 924 pics yoiu have shown where all known as 924 GTR's, The U.S. GTR ( holbert ) had a different style front with the rear box flairs. The GTP is with the protoype engine .
The kelly Moss Car was known as a 944 GTR , the first one done by Holbert was raced in the T/A seiries and in IMSA in the GTO class..
The 924 gtr also raced in the T/A series not sure how many races it won but did start from pole position a few times before making way for the 944 gtr.

also the 1st pic of the 924 GTR , to my knowledge only the factory cars had that front , The other styles where entered by privateers , with most of the body work supplied from the US by Holbert racing , the most famous one being the BF goodrich car , that was prepared and done here in the states .

Sorry Duke , I cannot disclose Details , a few tidbits , max RPM7200 2 stage dry sump , cam sensor / for seq operation , Modified intake with shortened runners , Custom made turbo. Tial wstegate , ECU controlling Boost .
Boost shaped 2 dim vs TPS/RPM , modified head , cam etc.. large Intercooler.

I 'm not one for one off custom turbos , unless they have been tried and tested , but i must say this one made a lot @ 1bar , well at least more than i have ever seen at 1 bar on these engines before.

When this project is 100% complete and you can disclose some data, let alone some dyno sheets, please let all of us know. As I said earlier, it sure looks beautiful and sounds fantastic, but we would love to see dyno runs.
