Default New 951! mods please....

What's up 951er's, my new toy is looking for some winter projects....
looking forward to hanging with some fellow addicts! uh, users, uh, boosters,
whatever...

Looking for advice on clutch, wastegate, and a good used set of 17" twists.

Would love some feedback/experience running 930 clutch and LR wastegate. Targeting 340+ RWHP, currently mods include K&N, Rain-x, and spare DME relay so I figure I'm already 1/2 way! - Oh, also Guru chips, 3.0, and no cat!
Emphasis on drivability for clutch, Thanks!!!

Hey Jonh - where in Northeast OH are you? There is a pretty good size contingency of 944 and 951 owners in the area that can help out as needed (I'm in Richmond Heights).

As far as the WG - I would go with the Tial 38mm unit. For $50 less than the Lindsey unit you are getting a production WG from a mainstream supplier rather than a one off unit from a Tuner. For the twist - keep your eyes on the Rnnlist classifieds as well as the NORPCA newsletter classifieds. If you patient a nice set will pop up for a god price.

340 rwhp is a good goal. DanP (944Fest) (Westside of Cleveland) has a nice Lindsey setup (turbo, MAF, etc) that runs in the 350 neighborhood at reasonable boost levels.

Hope you plan on taking it out on the track where you can truly enjoy it.

Thanks Skip,
I'm in N. Royalton, looking to get "up to speed" with the other guys in Ohio. I plan on getting to the track next year but first I'm starting with getting this 19yr old suspension perfect. Trying soooo hard to start with the boring stuff first but this boost is real addictive!

If you paint the car black it'll add about 60HP at the rear wheels...

Welcome to 951land...

Doing the suspension first is the way to go because once you start playing with getting more hp, it goes downhill quickly. What are you planning for the suspension?

I have M030 bars and sport shocks now, and as this is a street car first I'm looking to refresh bushings, ball joints, etc. Kicking around Elephant racing street susp. kit, but it's $1000+. My wallet is already making that sucking noise!
A black interior counts for 10hp, right Russell?

Hey, I am from Akron area here. I am doing my turbo plus some other small things winter. Been slowly buying everything I plan to re-place and what not. Dan P. like Skip said is using the Lindsey 65 turbo and put down some serious numbers. That is the turbo I am more less going to get. I have been keeping an eye out for replacing my a-arm soon as well as putting new suspension in as well at all four corners.

"A black interior counts for 10hp"

Not true, because actually a light gray or linen interior is lighter and therefore worth 10 hp.

Hey Ed, I hate to disagree being new here and all, but I did some looking and came up with a dyno chart, Linen holds well up to about 4,000rpm then black takes it!

ibkevin - I love the Trubo script on the front right! Do you have any closer pics?

I put a Cup PP and 930 disc in a car recently, is works very well and feels almost stock and it will hold that hp goal no problem.

One thing I've done, when refreshing different things to keep the downtime to a minimum is buy spares on ebay, redo those and then "swap" out the parts - then you can sell the old part you took off.

Those Ohio boys can advise you well and help spend your $$.

Hey Daniel, I'm sure others would agree when I say they are very different, but both really put smiles on your face! '74 911 is a supermodel, nice to take out once and a while and great to look at, but a pain in the *** to live with and non-stop cash (constant projects) 951 is the perfect low-profile supercar, unassuming, fast, underrated, etc. I have wanted one since the '80s and I'm totally thrilled! I would be curious as to other 951/911 owners opinions.
