my alarm went off on 89s last night, i don't think it was because someone was trying to break in, that would be highly unusual for the community where i live. has anyone had this problem?

Yep!
There is a short in the alarm box.
There is a procedure to jumper/bypass or you can just unplug the small/pwr plug. However, this might throw the airbag/warning light and have to reset.

make sure all your electrical door switches are on tight and functioning correctly. I had a phantom alarm problem and tracked it down to loose screws on my glovebox door allowing the switch to close on occasion and set the alarm off.
