Defastest: So does this mean you are looking to get a 6 speed for that car of yours? What year is your car? Is it an 89 with the hardened gears?

Is the 2nd gear shaft , you will need a spare tranny to transfer your lsd differential is about $ 1000.00 job plus parts not a biggie. If you need a base tranny I got a 86 with 135k miles in excellent shape for $ 400.00 and for $ 50.00 I'll deliver to vegas I was there last week picking up a 86 turbo for parts near the vegas speed way I got to see a bunch of F-18's and F-15's taking off for practice.

So, now that it's unanimous on the tranny. How to beef it up to take what I have and if I upgrade?
Even if I go custom, I'd really like a taller first gear to be able to get up to 60mph before I shift like the vettes. As of now, my first gear is almost useless.

On a side note. I'm heavy into the real estate market. Maybe I part it all out and keep the body and start all over with the load I hope to make in real estate out here. I'm leaning on keeping her but if someone comes up with 20k for my entire contents under the hood including intercooler and wiring harness, I'll do it. Any offers? My motor will go very nicely in that sweet 944 race car on the board that needs a new motor.

I am going to be "naggative" but there is no way that will happen Joe at the most 20k for the whole car that's if you get lucky, market for 951's is crappy .

Hooo! She's a keeper!!!!!. Keep that tranny for me then Lart. Again, How can I beef the thing up? Any customs out there to have? Lighter, stronger, clutchless!!!! That would be the siht. I'd take the paddles off of the Aston Martin Vanguish. OK, enough dreamin, any suggestions and how much?

You might want to contact Powerhaus II They seem to be pretty reputable.

Joe, I tried to PM, but yoy box was full.

I have seen the 5th gear pair 35 tooth & 29 tooth gears going for good amount (will PM actual value). The are worth the most out of the gear box as otherwise shipping the entire box becomes expensive.

You can go to http://nasaforums.com and post in the 944 spec section that you have a short 5th gear set for sale from 951. Should get some interest from a few drivers.

Stronger? The 951 gearbox is inherently made of glass. Built to the gills they are still easy to blow. If you're going to build one, put a taller 5th in and go for 200mph (on video) will ya joe

That would be cool Mike. You've got a bit of power under your hood as well. How's your tranny holdin' up?

M758, Joe, pm me again with some prices and the link again if you could so I can save it. Thanks.

Broken. No joke, it's sitting on jackstands waiting for me to feel like tearing into it (probably next week). Torque tube was on it's way out all year, I was cruising (not really even on the throttle) heading down to Philly one day and I hear a loud pop and suddenly it sounded like I had straight cut gears. I then proceded to get off the highway to investigate when I clipped the largest pothole I've ever seen destroying the front splitter and bumper. Thankfully all of my lights are intact. So the car has been down ever since, I just havent felt like ordering the parts needed to fix it or pulling it apart. I think I'm gonna tear it all the way back down and change a few things I didnt like this year. Have it ready to go April 1st and actually spend some reliable time on the road/track this year. I'll share my trans findings with you when it's apart. I didnt post about any of this as I didnt feel like starting another thread about how my car was broken Atleast my LSD has a lifetime warrenty, Quaife

Joe, before you decide on anything contact Kevin Gross. Tell him what you are after and he will give you the best advise. Kevin is by far the premier tranny builder for our cars. kgross@connact.com

Do a search on his name here and I'm sure you'll see it come up a bunch.
