From spec list of original US cup owner (I think posted on the 944 forum?):
"
Higher degree limited slip axle
Strengthened differential and axle gears
Strengthened transmission gears
Close ratio 5th gear
Transmission oil cooler

My guess is that the Cup transmission is very similiar if not identical to the Turbo S AOR trans (both w/ oil cooler and LSD), except for the synchro rings. If the trans is original and has not been rebuilt, it will have steel synchro rings on 2nd-4th.
Yes, the original cup trans mount is stiffer than the stock mount, but its unclear if that is included with the transmission.
The LSD part number for the early 944 Turbos was xxxx -03, the Cups were xxx -04, and the Turbo S cars were xxx -05. The stock and Turbo S lock is 40/40%, and the factory manual that I have references the Cups as also having 40% lock, so I dont think there is a significant difference in the diff.
Im assuming that the Cup transmissions also have the harder gear teeth on the input shafts like the Turbo S and S2 transmissions.
I have also heard, but not confirmed, that the Canadian Cups have a short ratio 5th gear. It depends on who you talk to to or ask about this. Euro Cups and the US M637 Escort/Club Sports have standard ratios. One Rennlister, Rage 2 said he had a Rothmans Cup trans is his car, and it had the stock ratio 5th gear. One current owner, who owns a couple of the Turbo Cups and a US Escort car said all the transmissions are stock ratios. Another Cup owner who has the car in the Excellence article a couple years ago, states they have a shorter 5th, but he did not reply when asked to confirm the ratio or rpm at certain mph in 5th. A PCA Scrutineer just told me that the Cup 5th gear is shorter and is the same as the 944S (but the 944S has the same 5th as a Turbo....). I am inclined to believe that the 5th gear on all the Turbo Cups is the stock 0.829.
The spec sheet that Brian mentions is the list of "52" differences between a regular street 944T and the "Weissach Turbos". Its unclear who the source of this sheet was - nothing is written on the sheet to define the actual source. It is in english and is usually attributed to the Canadian Rothmans cars, so it is likely something that was written up for the Canadian series. However, it looks like the writer of the list was not the most techical guy, some of the notations are vague and others are possibly erroneous, specifically the reference to the shorter 5th gear, and seam welded body. No other source of factory information/documention supports either of those claims.
Interesting trans though. Would be nice to know the case code on it.

I'd be suspicious of that tranny without a confirmation of the codes on it. If its the real deal, tho, you'd be plenty happy with it in your car. I have a gearbox built to Turbo Cup spec, and its very nice! Oddjob has the spec on it pretty well nailed, 40% locking, and close ratio 5th on mine.
LArt, have you looked into a 924 Turbo tranny? Those are supposed to be bullet proof and a bunch stronger than the 951, according to internet myth anyway. I can't confirm as I haven't run one.
