isnt there a higher posibility of detenation the colder the temperature? or am i totally wrong about this?

Dunno. It would make sense I guess because basically cooler air = more volume/higher compression. I'd assume running premium octane fuel mitigates the risk.

Colder air = cooler charge = less chance of detonation.

Yes, LESS detonation with colder air. It is not practial to put dry ice on the IC or fuel lines unless you are just doing 1/4 mile runs. I hear they use dry ice on there fuel line to cool down much as possible but you have to think since our fuel comes from the rear the fuel in the lines is getting cooled as you drive.
