Well if the police car was there when when we pulled up to the light, he would have seen him too. Like I said, he never looked back over at me that I saw. I go out of my way to help people that I don't know on a regular basis. If not going out of my way to warn a guy who thinks he has something to prove that there was a cop there makes me an *******, so be it.

That's a brilliant come back. I don't think anyone can top that. Ever.

I never said anything about speed. I just hate street racers because their feable attempts at "racing" cause them to be in attentive of their surroundings as they are focues on the "race" first not watching for other cars, pedestrians, etc.

LOL, I'm sure they would be exceeding whatever the turtle imposed speed limit is. Perhaps they would T-bone an innocent turtle, and then it would be turtle soup.

Please post a link to your source. I've seen anywhere from 20% to 30% of fatalities are cause by speed, so I'm not questioning that - I just want to know the rest of the statistics - what makes up the rest of the killings.

Psst - being more cautious IS a change in behavior, Ronin.

wolfenstein - while lots of DE track cars are still streetable, most folks who have moved onto the club racing scene have cars that are not street legal - gutted interior, catless exhaust, rollbar, safety stuff like seat belts removed...etc. So not only it is dangerous to test a racecar on the street, and not only it is technically illegal, it's also quite highly visible that your racecar doesn't belong on the street. So the only alternative is to practice, test/tune, and race on the racetrack.

Edited - rant about street racing removed.

However speed does not imply racing.

It is not the 5 or 10 over the limit that is the problem in street racing. Then again when does street racing ever stop at 5 or 10 over the limit.

Thanks for clarifying that, but I think the majority of readers could follow my overall point. To clarify, the behaviour we are discussing is the act of street racing. You either do it or you don't. Period. I know that sounds simplistic, but that's how the law views it and we have to play by their rules. Make sense now?

Ronin - I was just joking --- that's what happens when I have too little sleep the night before, and too much caffeine in the morning...

unbelievable comments from "enthusiasts"! most drivers at some time or place exceed the posted speed limit, i always appreciate a flash of the lights to let me know smokey's ahead, and return the favor when i can. excessive speeding on public roads is definitely unsafe and uncool, but so is jamming somebody up for jumpin off the line at a light! 'snot like he was doin' 80 thru a school zone, jeez
