Default I need to drive my car more!

I just realized the other night that I only drive my car for 2 reasons.
1. Track or other driving events
2. late night baby formula runs (9pm is late for me!)

ok reason 3 going out for mods!

On Sunday night we were running low on baby formula, and desperate houswives was getting ready to start ( the wife would not miss me) so I volunteered to make the run, I figured I had at least one hour to drive around (it is to congested during the day)

I realized that our cars make the rice boys drive like idiots!

Driving next to me was a civic hatchback circa 1998 with the prerequisite coffe can exhaust taching out at about redline. He would not leave me alone!
His exhaust was making my ears bleed, so I dropped down 2 gears and put him behind me (I was on a bridge with no other traffic) I slowed down as I approached a pocket of traffic and he caught up to me. I am at the speed limit and done playing. He does the same high rpm next to me and will not look over at me!
He takes off and cuts off 2 cars showing me how big of an idiot he was!
2 miles late a hopped up escort tailgates me in a populated area and I just let him go.
Before I put the fikses on my car and added a shiny muffler I was invisible to these guys maybe now I have riced my 951! Am I really that bad?
I have hit a new low, I even rented fast and the furious toyko drift!

I like that. Remember though most of the ricers can't read so you might have to do in "rice-a-bonics" though.

The Fikses do seem to draw attention - I get long stares from everyone and still have a hard time convincing folks that this is a 20 yr old car. Must be the bling-bling. Ditto on the rolling skateboard crowd; it's a daily nuisance. My favorite is watching their cars pogo up and down over the slightest bumps. One guy who tried to bait me had lawn edging riveted to his fenders for flares.......

Obe-Ben-Kanobie: First, you do need to drive that nice car of yours more often. Stop driving other fine automobiles, like Rovers, and use the Porsche! Second, you do know that the more bling stuff you add to the outside of your car, that you will attract the Vin Diesel want-to bes (Fast-n-Furious crowd)? How do you think they identify potential street racers? It's either by a loud exhaust and/or having tons of bling on the car. Get with the program dude!

Test: Nice sticker hommie!

Yes, at night 9pm + they all come out of the woodworks.

I would say the wheels catch their attention and then they actually check out the car and realize "hey, that's a Porsche Turbo" and they get all excitied have to race you.

Of course, I say hit the throttle on them, but do it as safely as possible. Of course we all know the track is the best but most in here know the time and place and also you can open your car up and smoke someone without being a 100+mph dangerous situation. A nice 2nd -3rd gear WOT will usually be suffecient.

I could not resist after checking today's weather report (well worn r compounds do not like rain)
I drove to work today, other than the volvo wagon with roofracks tailgating me a rather uneventful drive to work. I love the S2 gearbox in my car! I hate the 80% locking lsd because of the noise and hopping in tight corners! I will bring the lsd back to stock over the winter. Another project!
and yes Todd I did have a couple of wot moments

LOL!

We are starting to get some cooler (high 60's at night/morning) and so much more fun to drive than in 95+ and 90% humidity.

Yes, 60 degrees is considered cooler temps down here

Wanna really get the ricers going? Just add a "Turbo" decal to the fender... oh, wait, you already did that to my car... lol

Glad you are having fun with it. Beware of the dark side, tho, as you'll be dreaming of putting a Vitesse Stage II turbo on it next... (perfect compliment to the S2 R&P, by the way). If you love the S2 r&p now, just wait until you get it back to stock, I find its a LOT more predictable under power. Aside from the unsettling of the car due to the physical binding its going through, the power transitions are a lot smoother.

Having fun cleaning those Fikse's yet? lol I love em but I hate cleaning them.

Regards,

Scott, The dark side is calling me! I need more Boo$T
I have a love hate relationship with the fm10s as well!
My next project is getting my koni's installed on the front! My techs are afraid of cutting the shock tube to install the insert! Anyone in MD want to help me?
I cannot belive how strong the car is when I put the power to the ground I have a fresh clutch and the locking lsd is amazing, I just need another 100 rwhp.
The more reasonable me might build a mild by comparision toy.
Scott are you still running the TT special MAF that came with your car? I was wondering if that supports the stage II turbo or if you went to a proper Vitesse MAF?
I am considering building a vitesse/lindsey hybrid
lindsey wg, 72lb injectors, vitesse software and maf, 3bar fpr, black ****, lindsey super 61 turbo
I know I should do it the right way and do a vitesse pkg totally, but I am always willing to save a few $$
Ben
