Gstreev,

I've got an '89 951 that I'm thinking about parting. If you're interested, I'll remove the complete harness and fuse panel for you. It's really not that bad removing it once the dash is out. All the wiring in the back is a bit of a pain, but not that bad.

Like Dan said, contact Rob Budd and have him recover a late dash for you. He's doing an airbag dash for me and does very nice work.

Good luck with your insurance company and sorry to hear about your sh!!ty situation.

Thanks everyone for the offers to help, insurance adjuster is coming Friday morning.
He pretty much said they will total it. Then I have to decide.
Keep or not, depending on the buyback.

Barely streetable track car
Find one that needs a motor or bolt on body parts.

That is just horrible, it pains me to look at it. I can only imagine how you feel.

As someone else stated, talk to the insurance people before you do anything and then go from there.

Question Car is going to be totaled.

Anyone have ideas on what its worth?
Was running fine prior to this, with only 93K miles.
$4,500?

If it was an S or 89 with 93K in good shape you will NOT be able to replace it for $4500. More like $12,000. I paid $12,000 for my 89. The paint had a lot of chips, but the motor makes 400rwhp

Well I live in NJ and I don't think I would pay much more they 3000 for it. Granted I havent seen it, and it looks like a great car, but figure it will probably cost about 2000 or so to get it back to a normal looking state. Then you have the issue of all the possible fried electronics and such?

Just my opinion, I really have no clue. If you add up the engine, wheels, body, etc. as a parts car what do you think that would be worth, maybe the 4500 or so, but the trouble to actually do all that, thats where I came up with the 3g. Also at this point, you sort of need to sell it to someone with knowledge of the genre, and not just any random sucker, so that will cut into your bottom line also. That being said, I do have a 944 in the driveway that needs a clutch, do I smell a total conversion, lol.

Either way, glad youre alive and goodluck with it. It will ride again.

It would cost a lot more than that--- a new wiring harness alone would be tough to find and $$-- then of course the labor involved in installing it. . .

$ 4500.00 that's too much money that car is worthless just sell it to a rennlister for $ 3000.00 or less

You should get $8500 or so for the car, and a 15% salvage buyback, $1275. Tell them you'll settle for $7225, keep the car, and no salvage title.

I think the salvaged car is worth around 3K. Its either a parts car or a track car at this point, putting it back "right" wouldn't make sense.

The harnesses don't usually fry so there should be a lot of good used harnesses out there. Once the dash is out it would be time consuming but not too bad to replace the burnt with new. Some bits will run through doors pillars etc. but may not be damaged so you can either use the old wire to pull through or join (solder and heat shrink the splices). I guess headlining is toast and will need replacing.

If it was mine I would get it back from insurance at the best rate I could remove the dash and other damaged parts then go either the track minimalist route or the rebuild.

I live about 45 min away from LI i can help you out. I already replaced 2 dashes. its really easy just time consuming.

That would be great, 1st I have to come up with a harness and a dash.
I will be glad to pay you for your time. I will continue removing stuff
from the interior. Some of the connectors are melted, I will have to cut them to get them off, I will label anything I cut.
