Ok well I ordered a new turbo downpipe and 4 inch exhaust from lindsey racing. i have what looks like an oil leak from the rear main seal. I currently have the console area by shifter/intake manifold/downpipe/Cross-Over Pipe/exhaust system off. How much more work is it to pull the tranny/clutch to get to that seal. Also the flywheel looks like there is no oil on it/??? is this normal if the rear seal is leaking??

P.S. It took me about 10-15 hours to do everything that I have done up to this point only cause its my 1st time ever working on a porsche and some of those bolts were a pain

ohh and you can take the downpipe off w/o taking the turbo off. Just trim the bottom stud a lil bit and everything will slip off. This saved me a ton of time

Might as well do it now. Several PITAs of the exhaust and such are done. RMS leaks dribble down onto the crossover, which then burns the oil off. That gets mighty annoying after a while.

Do a few searches on the forum, theres threads with various tips for dropping the transaxle.

Total clutch time on a turbo is somewhere between 12-16 hours for a mechanic depending upon experience and which crossover tube you have. If the exhaust is pulled, you'll need to pull the tranny, slide the torque tube back, pull the clutch and have at it. It's not a hard job, but it is time consuming.

and again. If the rear main seal is leaking oil would oil get on the flywheel???? Cause I have no oil on the flywheel

Tranny is not that difficult i can get the tranny off in 30 minutes or so.

You need to disconnect the tranny coupler 2 bolts
Remove 4 bolts from the torque tube to the tranny
Remove the odometer connection
Remove axles
Loosen bolt that attaches shifter shaft to to tranny linkage
Also disconnect the shaft from the shifter lever and move the shaft forward.
place a jack under the tranny
Remove the bolts that attach the tranny to the tranny mount
Lower the jack

You should be able to do it in one hour and a half without any previous experience.

Be VERY sure it is not leaking at the oil pan gasket up in the raised section if there is no oil on the flywheel.

ok another question, since people actually respond in this forum How hard is it to change out the oil pan gasket??? Looks like you have to remove the crossmember?? Doesnt look fun

I have removed tranny's from 5 951's and removed my tranny 3 times already, I can do it in 1/2 hour easy.
