Up here the cars are dogs until you get up in the rpms and start getting some boost...

I had the same problem when I purchased the car from the PO. If I tried to start moving in first gear under 3k the car would die and wouldn't want to start again right away without sputtering a bit regardless of how long I'd been driving it, hot or cold. I remember the PO telling me he had a universal O2 sensor installed and also remembered having some weird issues on another car because of a universal that were fixed once an OEM O2 was installed. So I found an OEM O2 sensor online for $116 (on sale) I think and after installation, problem solved. Now I can get moving at 1k.

your cat might be clogged too, any muffler shop can check it

My cats always barf when I feed them beef-type food, maybe you should try that.

You might get your injectors flushed, I noticed a real change in low end after replacing mine. Search for Witchhunter he is reasonable (cheap) and has a great reputation.
