I replaced my worn steering rack with one from the 12,000 mile turbo S that is being parted and got an alignment on saturday. I had the alignment done at Munk's Motors in Waterford Michigan. They are a VW, Audi and Porsche shop that seems to dabble in BMWs. it took 5 hours to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
$90 an hour rate. the rear was not too bad to do but the front was not cooperating, not enough caster adjustment on the right and the minimum camber on the left front was -2.5 degrees.
They got it all in spec though
and it feels great. No more play in the wheel, faster turn in and higher grip.
I just have to get out of Michigan and get off these **** roads.
The shop was great, I spent almost the whole time under the car with the mechanic handing him tools and reading off the displays one the alignment machine. I think he enjoyed the help and company.
He also commented on how clean the underside of my car is even with the 202K miles.
