Thanks for the information. There are several 968 flywheels, but the lightest is 14lbs. On top of that its very finicky...a lot of complaints. The 951 has more readily available high power clutches as well.

somewhat random question:

I thought I had read somewhere that you couldn't swap a S2 tranny in because it wasn't strong enough for the 951 - am I just not remembering this correctly or did any work have to be done on the S2 tranny before it was put in?

I have been using an S2 for quite a while now. Its pretty tough.
The "S" box is not as strong.

Ok. I remembered after a couple of hours yesterday as I was driving around that it was that you shouldn't switch the pinion rings or something into the turbo from the s2 because they'll implode. Or something like that.

The S2 is actually the strongest of the 944/951 line. Its the 944S ring and pinion that you are recalling, and that will, indeed, destroy itself in pretty short order in a 951 if you like to drive hard.
