That pressed in pipe nipple on the intake manifold with the hose is famous for coming loose and rattling under boost and sealing under vacuum. I've had to Loctite 2 of them and Crazy Edddie blew his completely off.

Here are a few more ideas,

Since you've already checked your exhaust sytem and system connections for vacuum leaks, I'd suggest it's time to think about, what's not comming into the engine? Either it's not getting enough air, or not enough fuel.

So I'd check the intake sytem (do the easy stuff first):
1) check condition of air filter? (may want to replace it anyway), or anything else that could be choking the intake (AFM not operating correctly or opening up completely, or throttle plate not opening completely, cable needs adjustment?),

Check fuel sytem:
2) check fuel flow (minumum of 850 ml/30 sec.) if not, replace your fuel filter (or fuel pump?),

3) lastly, if all filters are clean, then do the not so easy stuff:
check your air/fuel ratios, get it on a Dyno, or borrow someone's Wideband and log your A/F vs. RPM vs. boost, and report back with results

Thanks for all the ideas. I was gone for Laor Day weekend in Colorado.

- My air filter is brand new
- I checked the AFM barn door and it seems to swing with no obstruction. How do I check the electronics of it?
- I'll also check the throttle body out
- Fuel filter is brand new
- I was hoping to take it to a dyno soon anyway so maybe I'll do this and report back
- I'll check the nipple on the intake manifold

Here are some links for you AFM Check/Procedure and TPS Check I have another link for the TPS somewhere, but I can't find it right now.

Thanks. I'll look those over and see what I find out.

Yeah Laust, I took note of that too. I was wondering how big of a difference the spring would be. It will be such a pain to pull off the wastegate and install a new 1.0 bar spring but I may just have to do it in th end. Where can I pick up a 1.0 bar Tial 38 spring?

I have ordered from these guys before (ATP) and they are pretty decent. I would say the price is average. They are kinda hard to find used though.

87944turbo, thanks for the ATP site. If I need a Tial spring that looks like a good place to go.

I'll keep trying to track down vacuum and/or boost leaks, change from the LBE to another MBC, take a good look at everything and if that doesn't work then I may be off to the dyno.

Did you consider removing the items you upgraded to 1 at a time? If you do go to the Dyno one of my friends wants to take his car too. Let me know.

cas951, I had considered removing the items that I upgraded but I want to try out a couple other things first.

I was planning on going to the dyno at Devek's in Redwood City but I don't have any idea when yet. Have you heard of any other good dyno places in the area?

He's pretty sure this isn't his problem apparently. He'd rather check stuff that's easy.

I've given a good check on all the hoses and lines (including the big ones to the brake booster, ISV, etc). I've traced every one along their length and made sure that they were well connected at both ends. I also just tested my BOV and it's functioning perfectly and is well connected. I also just climbed under the car and made sure the wastegate and other exhaust pipes were good and tight (they were).
