Default Vin # question

Do the Vin#'s on the windshield ,by fuse box and the firewall have to agree? What if the Vin# by the firewall is different?

TIA

Lart

The firewall vin is an ROW vin. The country specific one, and the one to use for carfax is on the door jamb. I believe the only difference should be the ZZZ...

My car doesn't have one on the door, only on the windshield and by the fuse box. Anyway I went to my local Mexifornia DMV and the mongol who inspected my car refer me to the CHP because he said it was a disparity on the vin#, aren't they suppose to know about the firewall vin # being a row number.

I agree with John Welch. The firewall vin is assigned to the body before it is determined for which country the car is to be exported.

Luis - you are not going to be able to "explain" this one......just go down to ChP and turn yourself in and take your medicine. Do the right thing.

Just give the car to me and I will attempt to whitewash your stolen vehicle.

Do you think that you have the only Porsche in Cali with a ZZZ Vin? If you still have the windshield Vin, that is what they go by. So what are you really worried about?

The ZZZ (firewall) versus AA0 (on windshield) discrepency have to be cleared by the CHP if you get a DMV guy who doesn't know Porsches. Call you local CHP office and ask for a VIN inspection. I've had to go through it a couple of times.

Here is what I was worried about, check the attached picture, but after Joshep's clarification I am more relax now. Just check the name of the retarded employee that explains it all.

On the topic of vin #s, did these cars not come with ones in the door jambs? The guy at the dmv gave me some crap about that when I got mine registered.

Default Hidden ROW number

Luis,
There is a hidden ROW number that should match the other one. This should be proof enough for any juristiction. Email me and I'll tell you where it is.
