Default EGT weld...Pics?

Anyone have some pics of how they welded their EGT probe into the headers?

If they are aluminum, isn't that an isse with trying to weld a steel bung to aluminum?

the headers are not aluminum! that would not be a good idea
they're SS so a regular steel bung is fine.

Nice! Thanks Doc.

Did the bungs you used come with the EGT?

PorscheDoc -- did you do that without ever removing the heat shields? How did you get the hole in the shields without screwing up the headers underneath?

You can remove the heat shield upper portion, it is just 2 thin sheets of metal pressed together. Seperate it, drill your holes, do your welding, put the shield back on and a couple of spot welds here and there and you are done. Don't try to do this on the car, if you drop shavings inside the headers, guess where it goes next....

That is an old job. Now we don't even mess with the stupid heat shields anymore. Cut them off, send them to swaintech to have them ceramic coated on the outside.
