Default Sway Bar bushings (OEM)

I was gonna wait to do this till I could afford some mo30's and upgraded bushings but I cant handle the sloppyness anymore...

so,

Im looking for a set of new OEM swaybar bushings. But here is the problem... In order to purchase the correct parts; How do I know the size of my swaybars without some sort of measuring device? I dont think I could eyeball the difference between 25.5mm and 26.8mm!?!

My car is an 87' if that helps.

Thanks!

Sure you can. Put a adjustable wrech on the bar and tighten up so it just rubs the bar. Take it off and measure the gap with any old metric ruler.

My original tool set was a couple of screw drivers and an adjustable wrench. Mother of necessity.

I measured mine with a caliper and made sway bar bushings from the polyurethane bushing at autozone. I have a 25mm front bar.

But are all 87' 951 swaybars 25mm? BTW what bushings did you get? Id imagine autozone carries them in all shapes and sizes.

OK somethings not right here. I did the little adjustable wrench trick and it read 32mm?!? I am fairly positive they are the stock swaybars. Furthermore I dont even think 32mm bars exist? I know the mo30's are 30mm?

I measured from the ends between the inner and outer bushings. Are they for some reason thicker on the ends?

Not sure I understand where you measured. Best to check diameter somewhere in the middle of the bar, between the two main mounts.

Use the adjustable wrench method or open-ended wrench. 27mm metric will just fit on a 26.8 and be noticeably loose on a 25.5.

No, there is no 32mm, the 968 M030 is 30mm. Yes, all 87 951s came with a 25.5mm front bar, but that doesnt mean its still on there now - so it would be wise to confirm before buying new bushings. OEM bushings are pretty cheap, so I would recommend going that route.
