Default Wet floor

Today i started ripping out the interior in my new 951 and noticed the insulation under the front drivers carpet is soaked in water even though the carpet was dry. Then once all was out and cleaned i went to my 951 parts car and it was the same way! is it common to get water in a 951? What should i check?

In your roof there are four channels for water to drain into tubes and out the bottom in front and behind the passenger compartment on either side. If one of these tubes pulls loose, water pours inside. Another place water pours in is around the back hatch at the top, you may never see it, but it'll snake right down behind the side trim and into the floor. You can test the moonroof, pop it up or take it out and look for four holes. Take a cup of water and pour it slowly in the channels, then look for four drips under your car, behind the front wheels and in front of the back wheels. If you don't get four drips then either the tubes are clogged, or have come loose. One way to clean them is to blow air in the top holes. One way they pull loose is from people blowing air in the top holes. I know, you just can't win...

Russell

Are you sure it wasn't hydraulic fluid? Some thing happens when the master cylinder goes bad.

It was definately water. The insulation pad was soaked. I bet alot of cars are like this and nobody knows it since the top of the rug was dry on both cars and soaked under. Im gonna check the sunroof and drains tomorrow. Hopefully that goes well, i havent even tried the sunroof yet since ive been busy fixing the engine and interior

Do you park your car nose high in a driveway? The cowl area can get plugged sometimes and leak back through grommets and wire penetrations at the firewall. Windshiel seals can leak also if the glass has been replaced. The rear areas behind the seats are usually the sunroof drains clogged or disconnected.
