Yes, legend has it there was a "double-super-secret" service bulletin, not widely publicized, back when. Owners of early '86 would, if they asked or their dealer was honest, get upgraded to the header with the expansion joint and the 2-pc crossover (under warranty). That's how my car got it, I assume (built in Mar '86).

You want my cracked stock 86 header?

The color is Riviera Blue, it was a late 968 and 993 color, so yeah. It was one of the colors for the never produced 968 Turbo S also I believe.

Depending on how bad it is, repair it at the shop or use it to work on making something new at the shop (for my car )

Sure, i'll keep you posted. It's not so bad really, it cracked up by the flanges.

Tig welded mine 8 years ago, holding up just fine under racing and street driving. I would think twice about the wrap though...any oil leak from the cam housing area soaks the wrap. Heat, oil soaked rag.....equals fire. Saw that one in person. Tiny little leak too...but it adds up. Just a thought.

Thanks. I'm leak free at this time. I'll keep it that way.

Blatant self promotion.... Sorry, had to do it

I can weld your headers, (usually, if they dont have 20 cracks) and return them back to you in 2-3 days from day of receipt... I do on your honor work, I weld the headers and send them to you, if you're happy I get my $100 and you tell everyone the good job I did, if your not, you get free weld job and are only out the cost of shipping. I like to think the work speaks for itself:

You can see the weld around the flange, and the repair I fixed at the joint, along with the added stabilizer pipe... This job was $150 because I had to extensively rebuild the "Y" pipe joint area.

SInce the cat is out of the bag, I'll probably see more X-pipes, but thats what keeps your headers from cracking. Send em to me, I'll fix em right. Guaranteed.

Hey, if the headers are stainless, could I polish them if I were so inclined?

You sure could... just don't over heat them!
