OPRV rebuild? 88 951
I have my oil filter housing out and am replacing all the seals and o-rings.
Question: the OPRV has one internal o-ring (according to the PET) - anyone ever replaced this? My car is an 88 951 so have the '1 piece' OPRV - the valve is held together by a snap ring on top (near the external o-ring), and it looks to be difficult to remove...Has anyone ever had an OPRV fail? Maybe I should just replace it, but $250-300 is steep...
Thanks in advance!

It does appear to move well without binding, but I want to make sure that I cover all the bases while I have this out. It is a pain cleaning up after a 'mixing' experience. Any other ways to tell if the valve is bad or in need of a rebuild? I believe this is the original OPRV.

Do not take it apart, just replace the outside o-ring, and the seal ring. If you want to, just soak it in clean engine oil overnight, but do not use solvents on it.

Well, I already sprayed it down with engine degreaser, ignorant of the fact that there is an interior o-ring present! Depending on the o-ring material, this internal seal could be compromised via chemical attack...

When I had mine out, it sort of fell apart. It seems the interior o-ring is the only thing holding the valve together. So I replaced both interior & exterior o-rings. Been fine going on 5 years now.
