Screen defrost vent not opening

Screen defrost vent not opening
Can anybody check something for me?
The screen won't vent to defrost. We've been having some rain lately that makes me need to clear the screen from time to time.
-Now, with the engine stopped but with the ignition switch turned on, if I move the slider for the floor vents to the left or right, I hear a motor that 'follows' the slider position for a second or two afterwards. -Basically, it sounds like it 'drives' the flap to my chosen position by electric servo.
I don't hear this sound if I move the upper (screen defrost) slider. -Should I be hearing a similar sound? -Can anyone check for me.. pleeeeease?
