Default another oil pressure issue, pressure wavering

I know, another thread on oil pressure but this is an odd one. After a 3 hour highway drive on sunday night my oil pressure started to fluctuate between 3.25 and 4.25 bars while on level ground just crusing. It was pretty quick wavering too, almost like the oil was foaming and had air bubbles. The RPMs had ben in the 3000 range for the whole 3 hours with mostly steady state running. The oil temp was 180 and is 15-50 mobil 1. The bearings were new 17k miles ago. This was the first time I noticed it but I sure dont want to have oil pressure issues.

One of the possible causes I thought of was a bad Oil Pressure Relief Valve. Possibly the spring in it is losing tension or sticking.

Or foamy oil??? (it is at the full line)

Mine started doing that the minute I installed a new (aftermarket) sender. Haven't gotten around to changing it yet.

There wont be enough foaming while cruising straight line to cause that even if it is pretty overfilled.

And I have never ever heard of an OPRV randomly failing, they are very reliable.

Most likely it is the sender wiring or sender itself, like everyone will say, replace that first.

well consenus says sender, it sounds logical and they are cheap enough (about $30 I think). Time to load up the parts shotgun. I needed to place an order with Paragon anyway.

im seeing 3- 3.5 bar at idle ...so i took out the oprv...cleaned it and checked the spring..then put it back in and saw 5 bar...i went to press on the gas and then dropped back to 3-3.5 bar...so im guessing on my car its the oprv.took about 20 mins all together and now i am pretty sure its the cause...i thought it was the sender and because it was the cheaper part to buy i went that route

on any car with oil pressure problems i always check with a known good gauge set-up first you would be surprised at the # of senders i've changed not just on porsche's
