Question Hood Liner Options

Folks ... it's time for me to replace the hood liner as it is in BAD shape.

Does anyone have any recommendations on what pad to use? The factory type looks blah and plain. What about this one that Paragon sells??? Paragon One

Any other options out there?

I have always been skeptical of those.

Wouldn't it just reflect a lot of heat back into the motor/intake???

It'll keep the heat out of the hood though, which is the point I think. That and sound deadening.

PHP Code:
Wouldn't it just reflect a lot of heat back into the motor/intake???
As stated in the ad, it's supposed to protect your hood's paint.

I would think it would "streamline" the airflow a bit better ... not porous, which would cool it a bit better. BTW ... our engines run better when they are a bit hotter ...

Let me save you guys some big money. This is what I bought and it works great. I used it for my rear seat delete/package tray project, rear deck, and also cut 2 pieces for the hood ($15). I used the double foil faced type. It's very dense, great sound deadener, and is fire retardant. It bonds great to metal with contact cement also.

My 88 951S never had a liner, typical of 88 Ss and 89s. Why ad weight up front?

Just press one side against the opening and run your finger along the edge. The imprint will be on the backside. Mark with felt tip pen adding 1" to the impression and cut with heavy scissors, it's very tough. Spray both surfaces with 3M Super 77 contact cement. Center on opening and apply, use a plastic spatula to tuck the margins under the edges. I forgot that you guys pay duty on inbound freight.

88+ does not have them from what I understand.
There should be no worries about a 944 turbo running hot enough unless you are in the artic.
the paint on my hood is fine and the car has been in Arizona most of its 197K mile life.

I got the one from Paragon, quite nice.

I decided to use it once I took the stuff off. Looks just as bad when its off as when its on due to the leftover glue and stuff
