i'd go with the top of the line escort. my dad has used them for years and they are highly rated/effective.

Also, have you thought about jammers?

I own 4 Valentine 1's. I have not gotten a ticket in years, and I have the propensity to drive vigorously all the time. Sometimes it is enthusiastic enough to make my wife nauseated, and put me in the doghouse for a couple of days. Still, no tix. Go V1, you get what you pay for.

i used to own an escort, until it broke and i found out that escort won't fix it for you outside of warranty.

valentine will not only fix it for you, they will even let you trade it in for an upgraded version.

also, you can not beat the valentine1 colored remote LED mod;

you drive a porsche, you should have a valentine1

whistler and cobra (ie; radio shack) are not even in the same league as valentine1 and escort.

Years ago this engineer worked for Escort when they were tops in radar detection. He has been on his own for quite a few years now making the best radar detector on the market bar none. His name Mike Valentine, his product Valentine1.

"Never heard of it, is it better than Whistler and Cobra?" LFA951

Huh? I guess I shouldn't be surprized. Even though it has been a leader for years and years, maybe the Valentine 1 wasn't "pretty" or trendy enough for you to get your attention. It does cost more that the other radar so it should be on South Fla "cool" list for that reason alone.

I just went on their website and it's $400. From what I see, the difference with the others is that this one can detect behind you...

the reason most people haven't heard of valentine1 is because it's not sold in stores. you can only buy it direct from valentine1.

it's like malms car wax. the top wax in the industry but how many of you have heard of that?
