Default Vitesse Stage 4 Turbo For Sale, NEW

Like the title says, I have a new Vitesse Stage 4 turbo for sale. I bought this from Boostguy951 a few weeks ago, but I decided to go a different route, plus I want to focus on my 911 at the moment. The turbo is brand new and has never been used. I'm asking $1250 shipped. I believe Vitesse retails these for $1900 new, I paid $1400 from Boostguy951, so I think $1250 is fair considering it has never been used. I won't take anything less. I prefer paypal but can accept money orders as well. My paypal ID is fred.brown@amd.com and cell is (512) 413-7050. Please feel free to call or email with any questions. Here's a link to the original thread with pics: Thread

Is it the "old" or "new" variety of turbo?

Some had reliability issues with the "old" Vitesse turbos, and John claims much better reliability with the "new" ones.

And I think he's finally moving up to the Ball Bearing turbos (I suggested this about 3 years ago..........

This is a newer one as far as I'm aware. I'm not sure on the exact spool characteristics of this turbo. Though, on a 2.5L I've heard that it should make 1bar by around 3.8-4k rpm or so.

I can send you a cashier's check for $2000 if you'll send me the turbo and you can keep half the extra... oh wait... that's been done.

Sounds like a good deal. Vitesse is good stuff!

Anyone still interested? I tried emailing some of you back in the last few days but haven't heard anything. How's $1100 sound? This turbo isn't doing me any good laying around on my floor.

I admit I know nothing about turbos. Would this be a direct bolt-on replacement of a stock turbo on a 1988 2.5L? Would any other mods be needed to make this fit? TIA

a little big for a stock displacement engine Jim, but i believe it is a direct bolt-on. VR stage II or III might be a better choice. assuming you keep the AFM, you'd like to modify the J-boot for the larger inlet.

The exhaust side/crossover is of course a direct bolt-on. However, the compressor side will need a custom intercooler and intake pipe and coupler. The coolant and oil connections are all supposed to bolt up according to Vitesse, though I've heard many say that some things require a little "adjustment" to fit 100% properly.

Regardless of the displacement of the motor, this turbo would really only be useful if you want to make over 450rwhp. It's not "too big" for a 2.5l. It's simply a matter of how much power you want and what type of powerband you want. Even on a 2.8l or 3.0l it's still excessive if you aren't going to make more than 400rwhp. The turbo is good for somewhere around 550rwhp. If you don't plan to make at least 450-500rwhp, you might as well go with something smaller and more responsive. That's the reality of it, and probably the reason it hasn't sold yet because I try to tell everyone that's contacted me the same thing. I don't want anyone to be unpleasantly surprised. Hardly anyone around here wants to or is willing to push that much power.
