Default Timing Belt Question

I bought my 86 951 a few months back with 69,800 miles. The previous owner told me the belts were recently done at 65,000 along with the front seals. The issue I have is that this work was performed in July 2002, should I replace these again or just drive it?

It depends, I will do mine every 3 years or 30,000 miles. I do the work myself so it's cheap, something like 40 bucks total. If you pay someone else to do your work I might not change them so often. So if I were you I would change them, chances are that they are fine but, that one time they're not, is expensive.

I would change the belts but unless you are having issue with the seals, they should be fine. That is if you are paying someone to do the work. If you do it yourself, it's pretty cost effective to change the water pump and front seals everytime you do the belts. If you are having a mechanic do the work, there is a big jump in price to including the water pump and seals.
