Default Piston Sizes...

What sizes are there for the 951 pistons? I believe I have a stock set but no markings on them. How do I tell what group, etc? I measured it with a vernier and it's 100mm exactly.

I have a cracked cylinder. If I buy another cylinder with a 100mm bore, everything's good to go? Or do I have to watch out for oversizes, etc?

Thanks.

Alvin.

what do you mean buy another cylinder? arnt the cylinders one with the block? if you have 100mm pistons they are standard. oversize pistons are very expensive

Look for a mark on the block near the oil gallery, should be marked 0, 1 or 2

My bad... I was going to type block but somehow cylinder come out instead...

I have the 100mm pistons but I'm hoping to get the same size block so I can reuse my pistons. Please tell me I can reuse them!

Near the oil pump? Ok, if I was to see another block with intention to purchase, would I be able to see the mark without disassembly?

Also, if I bought a NA long block, I obviously got to transfer my pistons over. Do I use my original rings or the rings with the new block?

Also, bolts and nuts like the headstuds and conrod stuff, reuse or buy new? I'm trying to get a realistic picture of cost.

Thanks!

Default Found some marks!

I found on the block near where the engine type/number is. It has a KS logo, 944 part number followed by a 0046/3. Is there a Group 3?!

I removed the conrod from the piston and I saw the KS logo and a number 100 1 87. I reckon 100 refers to 100mm. Perhaps 1 is Group 1? But this is a 86 Turbo, with no known history, perhaps new pistons from a '87 was put in?

Thanks in advance!

On the oil gallery itself (oil return) on the cylinderhead mating surface:

I had 1 marked on the rear two ports, and all pistons had 1 on them:
