need to pass the LRP sound restrictions, ordering a 3" LR system, thoughts on which muffler might be quiet enough?

You might want to consider the new SFR 'quiet flow' muffler. The description sounds like the Edelbrock RPM internally split design, which is supposed to be a very good muffler and quiet, but isn't sold anymore.

Get a Borla muffler, Flowmaster is for Mustangs, Magnaflow is for Ricers...

I have Lindsey 3" with cat and Magnaflow, without the cat it roared at WOT, way too loud for street, with cat somewhat manageable but still loud on long drives. May be going back to stock and selling system with cat and testpipe.

The Lindsey 3" with test pipe and Flowmaster is obnoxiously LOUD. In my opinion, it's almost to the point of being embarassing.

I have a B&B exhaust. I like it. Don't really have much to compare it to. Need soundclips guys!

Also, anyone remember when European Car was doing their exhaust on Project 951? Which muffler did they use? I remember they said the muffler provided no extra back pressure. I just can't remember which one they used...

I have a 3" Fabspeed Cat by-pass with a SFR muffler that has some of the baffels out of it, so nice deep sound at idle but pretty opened up at WOT. I will say, my car might be to loud for someone who likes the stock sound. If I could record my car sound I would but I don't have anything to do it.

I've got Lindsey 3" with test pipe and Magnaflow muffler, and at first it sounded very loud to me. Not rice loud, but a nice deep gurgle. Now, a year later, I don't notice it. I've either gotten used to it or my hearing is perminently damaged

Your hearing is damaged! My car failed inspection in MA due to excessive noise with a test pipe and Magnaflow. It barely passed when I put the cat in.

I test drove two cars with 3 inch test pipes and catbacks while I was looking for my latest car. Way too loud for the street imho, but your mileage may vary.

I really like the sound of my current setup, which is a Bursch 2.5" test pipe and B&B 2.5" catback. I get compliments on the sound of the car. Nice and quiet for cruising if you keep the rpms below 3,000, appropriately (but not obnoxiously) loud at higher rpm and at WOT. My wife and I just got back from a 2,500 mile trip, and no noise complaints. Probably not the lowest restriction setup, though.

I just installed my Bursch 2.5" test pipe on tuesday and LOVE the way it sounds. Its not too loud and obnxious, but loud enough for me. Sounds very very good coupled with the Dynomax Race magnum bullet muffler.

I have a 3" SFR cat bypass pipe and a 3" Broadfoot Racing catback. It has a deeper sound to it but is not too loud when driving normally, but at WOT it's loud and actually becomes higher pitched.

A few months ago I spent several hours combing archives, posting preference requests, and collecting sound clips to determine who would get my $1k+ for an exhaust.

Craftsmanship vs price.. SFR hands down! I did this to the point of buying a used test pipe from Adam and had it shipped cross country to save a couple of ben$. Look at the WG dump connection if your in question..

I have a thought...
