Default 1986 951 Wheels/Spacers Questions (already searched)

I just purchased a 1986 951 and it comes with the polished phone dial wheels. I'm not into polished looks so I want to get something different, but still OEM.

I did a lot of searching on the forums, but I still have a few questions. I understand that I would need spacers for wheels older than '86 MY. So here are my questions:

1) What is the smallest size rim that would fit over the brake calipers? For instance, would 15" wheels fit?
2) What offset whould I use? 23, 55?
3) What is the widest wheel size I can use for the front and the rear? 7" for the front, 9" in the rear, is that correct?
4) Spacers - what size should I use?
I've never used spacers on any of my cars, but I've heard that spacers increase wear on the bearings. The only case when they're not bad is when they keep the same track as from the factory. Is that correct?

Again, I'm only looking at OEM wheels: phone dials, turbo twists, fuchs, etc.

Thanks!

Oh, and if anyone's selling, shoot me a PM

You can purchase the Mille Miglia Cup 3 at Tire Rack that look like original turbo twists. They are available for your '86 in the proper offset. I have them with 7.5" in front and 9" in back. 225/45/17 front & 255/40/17 in back. They fit very close in the rear so I had to trim the lip of the wheel well a little. Easy to do. If you want a photo PM me with your email address.

Depending on your front struts (aftermarket coil overs are narrower and allow for wider front wheels) you could fit 8's on the front. Be careful with spacers, though, if you are going to use your car for any high performance (non-street) purposes.

I don't think there are major safety problems inherent in any of the top brand spacers and adaptors as long as you follow directions on stud lengths, etc....in fact if you look closely enough at early offset 944 factory hubs you can see that Porsche themselves used a form of adaptor to get the wheels out to the edges of the 944 blister fenders (as compared to the 924). BUT, my own recent experience with an autocross/track car was a distinct loss of quickness in the nose on when I used 1.5" front adaptors to mount some Club Sports on early offset hubs....nasty bump steer and slow steering wheel response at the beginning of each input. Swapped out a set of old 911 23.3mm offset 16" x 7" Fuchs for the Club Sports and adaptors and the car reverted immediately to it's better state.

Would the following wheels work:
fronts 16X7ET23
rears 16X8ET11
I have a feeling the fronts will be fine, but I will need a 22mm spacer for the rear, is that correct?
