My car has 186k miles on the odometer, occasionally sees the track and less occasionally sees 23 psi boost. The engine feels like a “baby” and last time I did a leak-down, it was 2%, 3%, 2% and 2%, so I am happily impressed.
The PO did the clutch and no record of major engine work.

That is great Laust!
Me and my cousin got a 87 Turbo, With over 200K for $700. We knew that the body and interior were in need of a lot of repairs. But it was running, and since this was going to be the baisis for our plan track car, it was perfect.
Our plan call for removing the engine and rebuilding it. But before we went to work, we did a compression and leakdown test. To our surpize compresion was and even 144 psi +/_ 1 psi. and leakdown was at a steady 2% on all cylinders! That was amaizing!........I could no belived it. So to be sure, We took it apart to see the bores, pistons and bearings all were perfect. The pistons tops were so clean that lettering was still visible and could be read easily. JUST AMAIZING!
