header wall thickness?
Does anyone know if it is greater than or less than 3mm? I hope greater so that I can get away with just tapping a drilled hole for the zeitronix egt thermocouple. It would be really nice not to have to weld 4 bungs in, like everyone here usually does.

Karsten, did you just measure or is that a joke? If it is really 2.3 I am going to risk it, I can always weld in the bung if it does not stand up to a pressure test.

It works, especially on #4, which was thicker than the others for some reason. Or maybe I drilled at the right speed and it caused a buildup of metal in the right place. You just have to be very careful about how far to run the pipe tap in, too far and there is no seal at all, I went half a turn, checked, another half, etc. I was also able to position the probe right next to the header flange, pretty much touching it, so that the wire poked out on the inside of the water rail. I dont think you can do that when you weld in a bung.
I dont think they will leak, but I will post again when the engine runs, probably a month from now.

Don't even try.
It will blow in less than 100 miles ESPECIALLY on a high bakpressure turbo car.
This only works on cast headers.
Did you see that heavy bung that Porshe welded on the x-over for emmisions??
