Default How much would you pay for a half-assembled "race car"

I've come across an '86 thats been sitting for a few years, previous owner wanted to race it but had some health problems, so racing is not in his future, and neither is finishing the car. Right now its got a rebuild engine, AiResearch turbo (not sure of specs), big reds sitting in the front seats, set of 18" turbo twists and 951 fuchs, front coilovers - should have looked at them closer but looked like a paragon conversion, camber plates, sparco fixed back seat, fiberglass headlight delete nose panel, good looking body, Autopower cage, I think the rear suspension is stock except for bushings, front and rear weltmeister sways, and I might be forgetting some stuff...

I'm gonna find out what the seller has in mind in terms of price in the next couple days. Right now its sitting there half assembled. How much would yall pay for this car and based on the above what do you think could be made by parting it.

And before you ask Lart, yes I'll hook you up with the info if I pass

A buddy of mine just picked up an F class 86 951 that had been sitting for 5 years (guy that owned it, passed away). Full bilstein escort cup suspension, weltmeister sways front and rear, fabcar control arms, kiss oil cooler, full cage, sparco seats, 1 track event on a rebuilt lsd tranny, motor rebuild about 3 years prior to it's last track event, track timer, fuchs with hoosier slicks. I know there is more I am forgetting. He paid 5000 for the car to the guy's widow who was moving and wanted it to go. We paid an additional 1500 and picked up 2 turbo motors, and a barn full of parts.

Part it? Are you serious?

1. Buy it

2. Finish assembling it

3. Drive the **** out of it

That would be my plan anyways...........got any pics?

no pics, damn I really need to get a digi cam; I guess it would be a shame to part it (if I remember correctly this is exactly how you talked me out of parting my old car, and now I'm glad I didn't )

The reason I thought of parting is that its got some good $$$ parts, but I don't have the cash to keep 2 cars; if I were to keep it, I would have to sell the car I just bought. I could buy it now and part it, that is, I could spend the money if I knew I'd see it again. I'll look at it again, and if every part is there to put it together fully, I'll seriously consider selling mine to buy that one and put it back together.

Or, if you could nail down all the stock parts to put it back together in stock form, sell it (preferably to me) and then put all your new goodies on your current car.........or whichever one you like better.

hahaha

I'll find out what the owner wants and go from there, but if you seriously interested in a decent turbo (who wouldn't be ), I'll certainly keep you updated

alright, thanks lart

as for the $7k, do you mean that is what you'd pay for it, or what you would expect to gross from parting it?
