Since the title on the thread was 3.2 vs 944T I believe George was just trying to say that his 3.2 equivalent (in terms of the comparison) was a 930.

The chassis is a '76 930, the engine is an '86 3.2 Motronic transplant. The power level is roughly equivalent to the original 3.0T, although different in character without lag, etc. Much more durable and easily maintained than the early turbo.
Lutjens, the chip is a standard Autothority 3.2 Motronic variety, nothing custom as far as I know. I'd be interested in better software if you have a source. Thanks.

I have driven both and own a 944 T. The 911 is a fun car, but to me it felt very similar to my much missed Corvair. I am not insulting the 911 my car was fully restored and was in very nice shape. The 911 is quick, but I can say without a doubt my 944 is a good bit quicker. The 944 is better balanced and seems much more planted. These are just my opinions and I do like the 911 a lot.

Also, keep in mind that the original poster is from the UK. For the 84-89 911, porsche still made two engines, a RoW and a US spec motor. The Euro motor was higher compression and I think the output was around 232 bhp. I think the US motors were around 211-214 depending on year.
Also, the Euro cars were lower optioned and had less safety requirements (bumpers and inner door protection), so they were quite a bit lighter than US Spec 911s. Probably not much more than 2700 lbs.
The 951 was the first motor that porsche made that was standard world wide.
Point is, a Euro spec 911 3.2 is quicker than a stock 951. A 951 is probably faster than a US spec 911 3.2.

Coolant changes are easier in a 3.2 though
