On my car, (which is a 87) the resistors are actually behind and medial (towards the middle) from the battery.

as far as the wiring they look pretty good, wires looked intact no cracking.
i'll post a pic a little later today.

here's a link to the pic showing the resistors, sorry i tried to upload it but it is taking to long
