Vertex Clutch Kit
Does anyone have any experience with Vertex's Power Friction clutch kits? My '87 951 just dropped her clutch big time and I have seen these in their catalog. My car is a semi daily driver/toy, no track use. I would like to go with a Cup disc or a 930 disc, but I need to spend money on so many other things. I just got thru replacing the belts, water pump, thermostats, all the front seals and races, all the vacuum hoses and did a venturi delete. The BOV also went south on me. Thanks!

I just ordered one and it uses the OEM spring hub, the only difference is the friction material is made by Rabestos. Looks OK to me. I have not run it because I just needed the OE style hub to rivit the Feramic friction material onto (to take the track abuse)
The PowerFriction material looks like quality material to me. I can snap a picture if you want.

The answer might be self evident but why in God's name are OE clutch discs so expensive for these cars? There is nothing unique about the design that would warrant them costing 3-4 times more than other marques discs. I realize the the P word adds some cost but it's just insane. I almost gagged when I saw the price for a clutch kit when I did the 83, it's a joke what the markup must be. There I feel better now.

I have run across something in an old thread here that suggests a Ford Bronco II disc would fit my 924S! Same dimensions---$42.00. Clutch kit for my daughter's Civic was $115.00. Why are clutch kits for 944's higher than for most Porsches? As much as a PIA as they are to get to, they ought to mark them way down to encourage people to not put it off. They might sell more!!
You got me going.
Sorry!

Mine did not have the dual spring, but I just ordered the disc solo, no kit as I had everything else. Looking on Vertex's website the Sachs kit does show the dual spring disc, whereas if you search just for the disc alone the PowerFriction and Sachs disc is depicted as not having the small 4 supplemental springs. I would call just to make sure.
