Cup Holder

Cup Holder
I just picked up a cup holder for my 88 951 and it works GREAT. I usually don't drink any thing when driving for fear of spilling it on the seat's but this cup holder works well. Works well for a Coke from McDonalds coffie for my wife on the way to the boat. Here is the link it is listed on EBay as a Porsche Cup Holder. Since it is made from Metal and mounts in between the passenger seat and the tunnel it is secure and as out of the way as best as it can be for these car's. After looking for one it is the best I have found on the market.

I still think this is the best one. However it only would work well with pop cans.

Mikeaagesen: I had the one your talking about. It sorta works with coke cans, but if you bump it while shifting or something, the can will flip right outta there. It is also uncomfortable on your elbow if you try to lean on it. The PO had put it in but I ripped it out and just have the tray there, which I like pretty well.

I was curious how it attached so I asked:
"The holder extends down to the floorboard and then back to the main seat belt bolt on the passenger side. The holder has a half loop on the end that hooks around the seat belt bolt to prevent the holder from sliding forward or backward. It is held in place between the console and seat to prevent it from moving from side to side. It's easy to install, simply pull straight up and it slides right out. If you have other questions, feel free to ask. Thanks for your interest."
Might be worth a try... how stable is it? I bought a set of the typical flip down holders, but haven't had the heart to drill into my new door panels...

I still have the tray installed but the piece of sheet metal with the hole that the can goes in is in a box in my garage. It won't work without the tray part that is built into the car though so sending it wouldn't help you out any. My PO but it in to replace the broken cassette tray. You have to remove the cassette tray and armrest assembly entirely to use this setup.

They say they don't have a model for 944's but looking at the ones I bought for my e39 I don't see why they wouldn't work. My 951 isn't easy accessible to me now but I'll try it the next time I get a chance. I really doubt this guy is making different versions for different cars... The design is so simple and effective he shouldn't need to.

hey ninefiveone,
have you tried that ultimate cupholder in a 944? looks like it might work using the console screw, if it's long enough to reach to the floor? If so, that's the one.

I posted the link before checking if they had a 944 model. But like I said, I don't think they need model specific ones.
Shouldn't need the console screw. it's made of something like a spring metal. once it's wedged into the trim, it's not going anywhere. I've been very happy with it in the bmw and with the lower seating position in the 944... it'll be even more accessible than it is in the bmw.
I suspect he lists different versions just to appease the oh-so-picky high end car crowd. Or just to reflect cars he's actually tested it in.
Regardless, there isn't another solution out there that i'd take over these.
