Any chance of replacing o2 sensor with car on the ground?
Ok, so I don't have a good jack or jack stands at my mom's place and I need to replace the o2 sensor ('86 951) this weekend. Can this be done with the car on the ground? I'm guessing not because I believe I have to drop the exhaust for this job.
anyone in the ft worth area willing to help out by chance?

Mine was a bitch to remove ... In fact I tryed so hard to turn the bolt but couldn't get it off so I removed the whole pipe and still had a bitch of a time I then put a wrench on it and hit it with a dead blow hammer
Yep that did it ...
Unless you make the Olsen twins look fat you will have a mighty hard time ...
Not just getting under but then to get that sucker off ... They make a special socket from them if you want to go that route

ok, well if I can get the sensor off while the exhaust is on the car with a tool from autozone, then it looks like I can buy some $35 ramps plus the $5 tool and get it done myself, or I can save myself the hassle and take it to an exhaust shop, spend more money and get a new muffler put on as well....I probably won't wait a few days for the tool from paragon, though it does look handy

If you have a few bricks laying round, they would be very helpful, especially if the car is low (ramps could scrap the front bumper).

The car needs to be in the air. If you have ramps they are sufficient. My O2 sensor was original and it was fairly easy to get off. It is tight though and make sure the new sensor has antiseize on the threads for the next time.

Like sillbeers said, get one at any auto part store ( Kragens sp? ) etc. They are not that expensive
If you can some how give it a whack once you get that socket on it I think you will be ok.
The reason for the whole in the socket is because of the wire that is attached to the sensor ... ..
The good thing about the socket is that you have more surface area on the,
Freaking welded in O2 sensor
Good luck

ps I got that Denon system thanks for your advice
