Default Vacuum leak?

after not running for a while (fixing the ref. sensor) my car is idle hunting and running rich as hell. Never did this before. Also, if I put my hand near the j boot I can feel air like a fan is blowing-I just can see anything as it's pretty cramped in there. Is this a vaccum leak down there somewhere? Otherwise, it boosts fine and runs great. thanks

could be, but the air you feel is probably from the alternator. Just a thought. Take the manifold off and change all the vacume lines. Get an aftermarket boost gage and see where it is.

reset you idle per procdure to see if that fixes the problem. If that doesn't fix it, pull the connection on the TPS and see if you have 1 ohm resistance on pins 4 and 6, just a couple of ideas.

You can also get carb cleaner, brake clean, or something like that and spray a mist around the engine bay. if you have a vacuum lean, when the mist gets sucked in your RPMs will speed up. That should help you track it down. However, if you feel blowing air it's not a vacuum leak. Vacuums suck, right?

Does the j-boot pull vac? I wouldn't think that you would have a vacuum leak in front of the turbo.

Oh but you can have a vacume leak at the J-boot. Ask me how I know.

Thanks for the info. It just puzzled me because it wasn't doing this before. So does disconnecting power do something to the DME which would cause a hunting idle? This is assuming it is not a vacuum leak.

As for pulling the intake and replacing all vacuum line you are nuts LOL. I just got her running again. It did have new vacuum lines recently before I bought it but I suppose it doesn't mean there isn't something bad. Sounds like a late fall project.
