Question Oil Pressure cold vs. hot

Just changed my oil (fully syn) and seems I am running a little less oil pressure when fully warmed up, and a hot day.

Was running royal purple and decided to change up since so many in here seemd to not agree with the results of tests of the product. So am running Valvoline 5-30 and at start up about 4.5 bar at idle and 5 WOT.

Once warmed up I noticed about 1 bar, dithering a little under, at idle and only 3 bar at WOT.

Before this was seeing about 2 bar at idle when warm and about 4-5bar on WOT.

Thoughts???

Hmm, 5W-30 is a little thin (in my opinion) for our turbo cars. The turbo generates a lot of heat in the oil, thinning it down a lot.

For warm weather or track driving, most people use a 15W50 synthetic. With this, I see 4.5 bar at higher RPMs and 2.5-3 bar at idle on a hot day after a track session.

Having lived in Miami for a while, I recommend you switch out to 20-50W (and keep your a/c charged).

Well, before the rebuild and I started running syn I alwasy ran 20-50 in the summer if not the 60 weight racing.

I thought with the syn I should run a lighter weight, but with the boost and temps down here I will go back to heavier weight.

Although, the heavy weights in syn do not seem to be in big stock at the stores.

BUT, I was running the same weight on the Royal Purple and the oil pressures were fine.

Making me think again that all the tests done proving it is a good prouct are true, regardless of people's personal opinion about it.

" Doctors differ-patients die " 5-30 is the wrong oil for our cars, especially here in florida, go back to the 20-50 oil and it will cure the oil pressure problem.
