Default WTF? Muffler is in the way!

So I was planning to change out the transaxle fluid today so slid under the car to check that I could easily remove the 17mm grub screws only to discover that I could not even get at the filler screw with a tool because the bloody muffler is the way! I can't see any alternative but to remove it to gain access to the grub screw, or am I missing something?

Thanks.

Pull off the wheel... maybe then you can see/get a tool in there...

I did mine with the muffler on just fine... May want to pump the oil in, as you cannot really pour it.

Pulling the muffler does make it much easier though. Pulling the muffler only takes about 30 minutes. Not a big deal.

Yes ok I will take a picture. I did not think of pulling the wheel ('cause I am stupid )but I guess I will have better access. But with the *** end up on stands this afternoon and the wheel on, there was no way in hell that I was getting that screw out without pulling the muffler

You should be able to get a wrench up there to remove the fill plug with the muffler in place. From there, use a funnel with 3-4 feet of hose on it, and have an assistant stand beside the car, pouring the new fluid into the funnel while you hold the hose in the fill hole. This lets you work around the muffler and wheel and everything. I did mine with the car sitting on the ground, and it only took 20 minutes.

I have had no problem getting to both plugs with the wheel on.
