Rob, I know that Sean did this last year. It's an old post. I don't think he's having the same issues any more. He actually won our state P-club champs with this setup so it must be ok! Also the '86 have no abs.

I thought '86 was the year that had a little larger brake calipers? Did the 87-89 turbos (not turbo S) have smaller calipers than the 86?

the 86 had the same calipers as the 87, 88 and non turbo S cars. i wanted the turbo S brakes. the conversion went well. i did loose a bit of negative camber though. but camberplates fix that.

Not quite, the '86 turbo front calipers had a smaller leading edge piston (38mm) vs the 87/88 non-S (40mm).

What do you care anyway, you are going to get the Big Reds, right? If you do, you'll have plenty of stopping power.

Maybe, maybe not......I'm going to see how my current brakes do with some more ducting feeding them cooler air and maybe replace the master cylinder which would be perhaps original. If this is still no good there are other options that may not be stock Porsche and may be lighter. I'm not talking carbon either.

Good guess Rob. 1 of 3 possibilities. Do you know or does anyone have any experience with stoptech? I like the idea of their rotor design for cooling.
I also like PFC's. http://www.performancefriction.com/pages/about_pfc.htm
They make pads, rotors, calipers all in house and I am finding out some info on them. I already use the pads and they're excellent. The calipers should be a bit lighter than the Brembos. I'll post when I find out.

Do a search on Stop-Tech or start a new thread. Don't know anyone who used them, sorry. Much debate on here though, that I can tell you. And that other company, I'd have to look into them
