TURBO-PERFORMANCE(BAD)
Do not use turbo-performance for anything!!!! I ordered a rebuilt K27/6 from them. It took them 3 tries to get a good one. I also paid for 2 so that they woulld send me a new one without taking the bad one out so i could do the swap in 1 shot. After finally getting a good one and sending the 2 bad ones back, we came to an agreement that i would get 500.00 credit for my 10hours of swapping out turbos and 600.00 for the second turbo i paid for. So I should have saw 1100.00 credit on my CC. This was 2 months ago. I have been going back and forth with Bob(owner, who says he is not), about this credit situation. He tells me he has to credit me 150.00 a day untill we get to the amount because his CC machine would not let him credit me the whole amount (Bull----). So i agree to that. Now it is May 17 and I have a total credit of 149.00 out of my 1100.00 in 2 months.

Just as a question, what was wrong with the turbos?
I had one from them that had a chip off the water line mounting, they replaced the whole turbo for me and so far it looks good. Also K27/6.
Dal.

Very surprising. They have serviced a lots of turbos for me and for the shop which does a boat load of 993&996TT stuff. Never had a problem.
I've known Bob for a long time and he's never given me a problem.
Now I feel bad since I've recommended them to many people here and at other places.
Out of curiosity, what constituted a "bad" turbo that he sent you?

Tony G, I had two cold side impellors spin off in the first 20 miles of install. Bob admitted he built them wrong. I had no problem with his service. I am having a problem with him giving me the money owed to me. He verbally agreed to give me the money and every couple of weeks i check my CC account and no money. He keeps coming up with excesses why the money is not in my account. I have been a gentleman about this situation, being very plesant on the phone. After 2 months there are no more excusses. He also tells me he is not the owner and he has to hide the money from his boss. I am in bussiness and would never treat my customers like he is treating me. How can you tell someone that the CC companies will only let you credit back 150.00 a day. THAT IS BULLS---. He ran thru my CC for 1332.00 and had no problem but cant credit a customer back. So as of right now i paid 1200.00 for a rebuild turbo and had about 15-20 hrs of puttiing on and takeing of turbos. Tony I dont hold anything against you. I am sure you ment the best when you recommended him.

Wow.
Something must be up financially with him.
Too bad. He's a nice guy that's been doing this stuff for... 20+ years.
If he doesn't get you your money back, shoot me a PM. I'll see what I can do.

I had a simullar problem with my turbo, but it wasn't about money.
I sent my turbo(26/6) in went he was having problems with the impellor coming apart. It took him about six week to return the new one. At first he said that him had found the problem, but it would take few days to get new parts in to build mine. I wasn't in a hurry so I said ok. Them one, two , three weeks and nada!....At that time I call and said that it was ready and that it should arrive in two or three days.one more week went by and no turbo. Then another one. By the last week I was calling him every day( sometimes more tham twice a day). finally got it after more that six weeks.
The thing is that I order a turbo (K27/6) from him last year for another car and and NEVER have a problem with the service, the time frame agreed, or the turbo. I was really puzzle as to what change since then.

AL

kevin I really cant tell by the photo. If you look at the fins and they are starting to wear down then the nut is slowly coming off. It could also be rubbing and that is not good either. You will want to address this before the nut falls off. That will be a nightmare. All the shavings will go in the intercooler and intake system and you will have to clean everything out and hope nothing went into the motor. Tony G. thank you . I might want you to go buy if i dont get anywere with Bob. I did call my CC company and worse case i will just charge back everything. I really dont want to do that though.

Shouldn't you be able to see the shaft end at least up to the locking section of the nut? All I see is locktite!
This is still being installed and I really would rather fix a potential problem before $hit hits the fan.

Yeah, not being a turbo builder I guessed that with correct balancing this was doable, but this thread and paranoia are kicking in real quick. Is there is enough "nose" material to cut back for the impeller nut to sit correctly?

Is the nut fully engaged on the threads?
You really need a side angle photo to tell, but from what I can see, it looks OK. It simply looks like some locktight residue on the end of the shaft.
