A few pictures have come up on some other threads, if you run a search for Gomes + Balance shafts, you should get a return that has some pictures. The kits work well, the one I had for my old engine, never leak. I'm having Scott (Gomes) weld my new engine shut, which is a step most people are not willing to do because of how permanent it is.

Not Gomes but fabbed by another Rennlister 951and944S and lighter than a feather:
#1 Stock shaft with light plug from aluminium & heavy plug made from band sawing a stock shaft
#2 first idea- just the stock heavier piece cut from a stock shaft with washers migged on.
#3 heavy and light plug, second idea
#4 left hand aluminum one still supplies oil to the turbo, right hand one doesn't need the oil circuit cut into it.

Hi Duke, the rears are just factory discs with factory o-rings, the fronts were just cut from the factory shaft since I shaved the weight of the drive sprockets by using a simple collar and bolt.
All factory seals in place.

i guess you do it when you dont care about vibration and dont want to worry about ANOTHER belt going bad in there.
this was done on my eclipse GSX. it was still pretty smooth.
if i really wanted to, i'd do it on my 951.......

Seriously, many people delete just the belt but since you may have an engine apart anyway. why not lessen the mass turned by the crankshaft...?
Doubt they rob much measurable power, maybe a few hp but there should be a slight better throttle reponse and a definable weight savings. For those who've scraped sound deadener and undercoating, this makes sense...

In my specific case, it also enables me to machine the crankshaft balance belt drive pulley (more weight) to facilitate a new crankshaft mounted trigger wheel.
Less moving parts, removing wearable balance bearings as a source of internal oil circuit leakage can be another plus...

So can you disable the balance shafts simply by removing the belt, or could this cause any kind of problems/interference of some sort? I'm trying to simplify my motor, and I don't really mind some vibration.
