Didnt actually place an order yet. I was following the thread between promax and vittesse about how their chips are different and trying to make a decision based on that.

Plus last word from Andrew was that the chips still arent available.

How do they feel, particularly the boost control(KLR)? Can you compare to any other chips?

I have an exhaust leak scheduled to be repaired next week and I will share my opinions when things are back to normal.

Question

Well, I installed the Scivision MAF chips this PM and went for a short drive. First impression is that they do very little in low-end throttle. The MAF itself is a vast improvement in low-end throttle with stock chips, but the MAF chips don't really improve on this. There is however a difference in 3rd gear as you can feel the power come on quite a bit past 4K RPM. There was quite a bit of traffic on the highway so I was unable to really test 4th and 5th gear above 4K RPM.

Overall, I can't say that the Scivision MAF chips impress me as much as the MAF itself. Also, it seems that idle on startup is slightly higher than with stock chips. Finally, when I turned on the A/C and with the engine nice and hot the idle began to hunt around and was not very stable. It went from 850 RPM up to 1200 RPM and it seemed that it could not decide where to settle.

Promax suggests running 3Bar FPR and that is what I have. I was also running Shell Optimax 91 octane which is the highest we can get around here.

Stock chips. I may actually go back to those just to test the idle situation.

Tommy,

I now have a more serious problem than a hunting idle. In the few weeks after my last post I continued to drive the car and the performance was really nice except for the idle situation.

I had ordered a new fuel rail and injector/knock sensor harness from LR. I had also ordered a new TPS and ISV. The car has now been on jackstands for three weeks. I was able to button everything back together last weekend. Unfortunately, when I first tried to turn on the engine, it went "click-click-click" and the starter never turned over. Since I've taken the starter out of the car and tested it. Well, it spins very nicely indeed when out of the car. So, I figure I must have made some sort of bad connection somewhere while setting up the new parts. I will try to hunt that down tomorrow. Hours of pleasure in sight!

Regards,
Andre

When the battery has to little juice the starter doesn't turn. Then you only get the "clicks"..
Try charing the battery and I'm sure the starter will spin.

Now my car is finally all buttoned up. My hunting idle problem is completely done since I've changed both the TPS and the ISV. Power delivery is again very smooth with the Scivision/Promax chips. I'm very happy with the kit and the chips!

Andre,

What was the difference in the car without the Promax chips? Less power?

A little less "oommph" off the line with stock chips versus the Promax. Also, in 3rd and 4th gear boost comes on sooner and stays on longer.
